La Flor Earrings

One large orchid per ear, bead-woven petal by petal in ivory and gold glass beads. The petals are worked separately and shaped so they curve away from the ear instead of lying flat, which is what gives the flower its volume and keeps it moving when you do.

It hangs from a slim gold bar that sits along the lobe, so the weight of the flower falls below the ear rather than pulling on it. Ivory and gold read as neutral from a distance and as texture up close.

La Flor is woven by women artisans of the Embera Chamí community in Colombia, using high-quality glass beads and stainless steel.

Keep away from water, perfume, creams and hairspray, and put them on last when you get dressed. Store them flat so the petals keep their curve. Clean only with a soft dry cloth; never submerge them.

The ivory and gold palette is the reason this pair travels: it works with a white shirt and jeans, with black at night, and it is one of the few beaded pieces that holds up at a wedding.
